London APSA will be the first British Asian Club competing in this years FA Cup on the 19th of AUGUST 2005 against Halstead town FC.
· London APSA are a predominantly Muslim Club drawing players from East London communities.
· London APSA have made giant leaps to challenge the under-representation of young Asians in mainstream British sports.
· London APSA was established in East London in 1993 and it’s aim is to push forward Asian football in England.
· London APSA was awarded senior status by The FA in 2003.
· London APSA FC acquired senior status and entry into the Eastway Essex Senior League in the summer of 2003.
· Admitted into the semi-professional Westview Essex Senior
League.
· This year will see another historic moment as London APSA,
representing the finest UK Asian footballing talent, enter the 2005 FA CUP.
London APSA chairperson Zulfi Ali is excited about the FA CUP and is
well aware of the significance of this momentous occasion. APSA will be The first Asian Team to enter a team into the FA cup.
"Our participation in this year's competition is a mammoth achievement and great boost for the Muslim community in this country.
This is a real opportunity for us to prove that Muslims are very much part of the fabric of this society," he said.
"To win this game will be excellent. We have been drawn against Halstead, last years Vase finalists and the feeling is full of optimism.”
